About Me

"What I know about myself isn’t really worth telling. If you only let me tell you what I imagine about myself, you’ll think it ever so much more interesting." -L. M. Montgomery

Greetings! My name is Debi, with an "i." But I'd much rather go by my pen name, Ella Colbourne. Since I live in Brownsville, Texas as a missionary kid, there can be times when life is difficult. When I want to get out of the depths of despair, I pick up my pen and step into another world. One that has so much more scope for the imagination.

In these worlds, I can be anything I want. I might be an elf with beautiful raven black hair, wandering alone through the forests of Middle-Earth. I could be an unfortunate tribute on my way to the 23rd annual Hunger Games. I can even be a mighty dragon, soaring high above the clouds.

But then I come back crashing to this world where I am only Debi... with an "i."

About the Blog

It all started when I was five years old. I tore out several pages from an old, used journal, picked up a No. 2 pencil, and composed a story about children all over the world. I found out that I loved to write.

After the story was completed, I wandered away from writing and started to read instead. If you ask my sister, she will tell you I never put down my book until I was done reading it.

But then I read Do Hard Things and met my bosom friend and greatest enemy, Victoria Rose. Both inspired me to pick up my pen once more and return to my first love.

I believe God sent both the book and a friend to me. He wanted to remind me of my passion for writing. Thanks to Him, I started writing again and decided it was time to share some of my ideas with the world.

And that's how this blog came into being. Now, because of His mercy and love in giving me this passion, the purpose of this blog is to ultimately bring glory to the Father.

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."

-Revelation 4:11
