Tabby's Poetry Corner: Welcome

The Scoundrel and the Princess

Underneath the starlight,

There is no better place,

For a scoundrel and a princess

To lovingly embrace.

I will not lie and say,

Their love came at first sight.

For when they first had contact,

All feelings were of spite.

But their fingers touched and their lips met,

And they, knowing they could not live a lie,

With all of the worlds against them,

Kissed their previous dreams goodbye.

They married and lived happily,

And celebrated a son born to them,

But alas, this happiness could not last,

They drew apart, despite their passion.

Separated, and feeling lonely,

They wrestled through the years.

Until they met again once more,

And calmed all of their fears.

And yet, dead set against their love,

Was the vicious monster we call fate.

For as soon as the scoundrel left her side,

He was murdered by a saber named Hate.

There are no words to comfort her,

The princess whose heart is torn in two.

For the only thing that would make her smile

Is to kiss the scoundrel that she knew.

Underneath the starlight,

There sits an empty space,

In the heart of a lonely princess

For the scoundrel never to be replaced.

She tells him that she loves him.

But instead of a reply,

There’s a lonely echo of her voice.

 The silence makes her cry.

Though she weeps and mourns his loss,

There’s a time she too must go.

And when she says, “I love you.”

The response will come, “I know.”
